An AM radio station in the Detroit market, broadcasting from a six-tower array in Walled Lake, Michigan, and currently operated by Birach Broadcasting Corporation with an oldies music format. Founded in September 1954 with studios in Pontiac, Michigan, the station spent its early decades under Chief Pontiac Broadcasting, cycling through top-40 and country formats. A notable chapter in its history came during the Urban Cowboy era of the early 1980s, when the station embraced local country music by hosting live in-studio performances each week and producing an album titled "Hometown Heroes" — a collection of recordings by local country artists, with proceeds benefiting the Pontiac-Oakland Symphony. The album featured guitarist Marshall Crenshaw before his commercial breakthrough. Ownership passed to Michigan Cablevision and Radio in 1977, then to Algis Zaparakis in 1986. The sale of the original Bloomfield Hills tower site to developers forced the station to relocate its antenna array to a wetland near Wolverine Lake, reducing its effective coverage area significantly. The station subsequently shifted its programming focus to oldies music and developed an international listener base through internet streaming, drawing audience comments from listeners in Scotland, Germany, England, Ireland, and across the United States.
