A public radio station operating at 94.3 FM, licensed to Rexburg, Idaho, and owned by Brigham Young University-Idaho, an institution affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The station operates at 100,000 watts effective radiated power, the maximum permitted for FM broadcasting, with its transmitter situated near Menan along the Snake River. Coverage extends across eastern Idaho, supplemented by an extensive translator network spanning Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. The station broadcasts classical music programming alongside NPR staples including Morning Edition and All Things Considered, and carries a limited amount of LDS-focused religious content. It promotes itself as delivering both music and news. Local news content is planned and produced by BYU-Idaho students, with approximately 20 students working for BYU-Idaho Radio each semester. The station's origins trace to September 1972, when it signed on as KRIC, a 10-watt outlet at 90.1 MHz serving then-Ricks College. In May 1984, KRIC moved to 100.5 MHz and boosted power to 75,000 watts. In 2011, the station relocated to 94.3 MHz as part of a coordinated multi-state frequency reassignment involving several stations in Rexburg and Idaho Falls. Sister station KBYR-FM at 91.5 operates with a religious format.
