A commercial adult contemporary radio station broadcasting with an effective radiated power of 18,000 watts as a Class B FM station. The station signed on in 1961 under the call sign KHFR before becoming KWAV in 1969. It transitioned from an easy listening format to adult contemporary in the early 1980s, later evolving to soft adult contemporary with a workplace music orientation. The station began broadcasting in HD Radio in 2007, with its HD3 subchannel rebroadcasting smooth jazz programming. Currently owned by Stephens Media Group after successive ownership changes through Buckley Broadcasting, Mapleton Communications, and other operators. The transmitter is located atop Mount Toro in the surrounding region.
