ESPN Radio, launched on January 1, 1992, operates as an American sports radio network extending the ESPN television brand into audio broadcasting. The network maintains headquarters at the ESPN campus in Bristol, Connecticut, with multiple studio facilities nationwide and home studios for remote broadcasts. ESPN Radio was established through a partnership between ESPN Inc. and Capital Cities/ABC's ABC Radio Networks in September 1991. At launch, the network debuted with 16 hours of weekend programming across 147 affiliate stations in 43 states. Initial programming consisted of news shows, update segments, and occasional features. The service has since expanded into comprehensive 24-hour operations covering professional and college sports. Network programming includes live play-by-play coverage of major sporting events including NBA games (since 1996), Major League Baseball including playoff and World Series games (since 1998), College Football Playoff games (since 2000), and NFL Football Sunday broadcasts (since 2013). The network has also carried international soccer competitions including La Liga, the EFL Championship, and past coverage of the FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro tournaments. ESPN Radio content streams across over 215 stations nationally and ranks first as a sports broadcasting program. The network distributes through satellite radio on SiriusXM channel 81, online streaming platforms including Audacy, iHeartRadio and TuneIn, plus podcast feeds and ESPN+ subscriptions. In July 2023, Good Karma Brands assumed day-to-day operations and advertising sales for the ESPN Radio network. This Spanish-language outlet serves Hispanic sports fans by providing access to ESPN's comprehensive sports coverage, news segments, and analysis programming tailored for Spanish-speaking listeners.
