Broadcasting under the "Free Range Radio" and "FAT 99" branding, the station serves rural communities in the Garberville and Laytonville area of northern California's Humboldt and Mendocino counties. As of its ninth year on the air, the station has established itself as a grassroots community broadcaster. Programming includes locally produced shows, and the station hosts an annual outdoor music festival called "Fat Fry in the Park" at Tan Oak Park near Leggett. The station sustains its operations through listener donations and accepts vehicle donations through a charitable vehicle program.
