An American radio network owned by Fox News, syndicated to more than 500 AM and FM stations across the United States, with additional programming distributed on Sirius XM Satellite Radio. The network traces its origins to 2003, when Fox News began providing one-minute radio updates through syndication service Westwood One. Following the success of those short-form updates, the organization expanded into full network radio news services, assembling a staff of sixty radio professionals. On June 1, 2005, the network launched its flagship news format: five-minute newscasts at the top of each hour and one-minute updates at the half-hour mark. Sixty stations carried the network at launch. Growth accelerated through a partnership with Clear Channel Communications (now iHeartMedia), the largest owner of radio stations in the United States, which allowed many Clear Channel properties to air the newscasts and gave the network access to locally produced news content. A number of stations switched affiliations from long-standing relationships with CBS Radio News and ABC News Radio to join the Fox network. Alongside its core news service, the organization developed Fox News Talk, a long-form conservative talk programming block featuring personalities from the television side of the Fox News brand. That programming aired on terrestrial radio stations and was previously available on SiriusXM Channel 450. Following an exclusivity arrangement, the full-time audio simulcast of Fox News Channel was removed from one satellite platform on January 1, 2006, with the talk network launching on the other service the following day.
