The station's history includes a period of ownership change beginning in January 2021, when Educational Media Foundation (EMF) agreed to acquire both WFLO and WFLO-FM from Colonial Broadcasting Company. Following that transaction, EMF converted the FM counterpart to the K-Love network format and divested the AM station to Heart of Virginia Communications. WFLO relaunched under its current branding on December 1, 2022.
