A Low Power FM (LPFM) community radio station broadcasting on Channel 232 at 94.3 MHz, classified as a class L1 station. It is owned and operated by Wimberley Valley Radio, a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. The station was founded as a direct response to the devastating wildfires that swept through Central Texas in 2011. When major Austin media outlets focused coverage on the largest fires, the Wimberley area received little attention, leaving residents without critical emergency information. Community members recognized the need for a dedicated local outlet capable of broadcasting emergency alerts and public safety information to protect residents during future disasters. After receiving an FCC construction permit, Wimberley Valley Radio established a mission centered on four pillars: supporting local musicians and the arts community; providing educational programming and emergency information; delivering local and county news not available through other regional outlets; and training students and community members in radio production and technical skills. Programming is entirely locally produced, covering arts, entertainment, public affairs, and school activities. The station serves as the broadcast home for Wimberley High School football games, with the Voice of the Texans, Jarred Robinson, providing play-by-play coverage through the Texan Tailgate program. Real-time Doppler weather radar updates are also offered to help residents track storms across the Wimberley Valley. Funding comes from individual donations, event ticket sales, business underwriting, and grants. Studios are located at 111 Old Kyle Road in The Lumberyard Retail Center, just off The Square in Wimberley. The station can be received over the air on 94.3 FM and is also available via its website, dedicated iPhone and Android apps, and the TuneIn Radio platform. An annual Kentucky Derby Party fundraiser is among the station's recurring community events.
