Through the 1960s and early 1970s, the station carried a beautiful music format before transitioning to Top 40 in 1973 under the WHNN callsign and the branding "Super Win." The format evolved through album-oriented rock from 1976 until 1981, when ownership pivoted to adult contemporary despite strong ratings, citing advertising market conditions. Under the adult contemporary format, the station built a loyal regional audience over several decades. Its studios are located on Champagne Drive South in Saginaw, while its transmitter sits on Dutcher Road in Tuscola County.
