A community low-power FM radio station based in Sacramento, California, operating on 97.5 MHz. Launched in 2004 by the California Black Chamber of Commerce, the station is one of the few Black-owned radio stations in California and has served as a cultural institution in the Greater Sacramento area for over eighteen years. The station operates under an Urban Adult Contemporary format, offering a broad playlist that encompasses Motown, soul, neo-soul, contemporary R&B, jazz, urban gospel, and new music from both rising and established artists. With an expanded library of approximately 3,000 songs, the station deliberately avoids hip-hop and rap, positioning itself as a community alternative to commercial counterparts such as KSFM and KHYL. All programming is commercial-free. Talk programming plays a significant role in the station's schedule, with shows including In Black America, Free Talk Live, Health Matters, and Mid-Day Connect. Music programming blocks include Gospel Soul Sunday, The Smooth Vibe, New Music Mondays, Hot Lunch Special, and Friday Night Dance Party. On-air personalities include Tristen Mays, Jay King, and Leon Guidry, with regular appearances by Sacramento community leaders. The station originally launched on 97.7 FM with limited coverage in eastern Sacramento County. In 2011, it relocated to 97.5 FM with a repositioned transmitter that improved signal reach, and the station also operates a webcast for listeners beyond its terrestrial coverage area. Its stated mission emphasizes community empowerment through media access and public affairs information, with particular focus on small business entrepreneurs and youth programming.
