The station operates under an Urban Adult Contemporary format, offering a broad playlist that encompasses Motown, soul, neo-soul, contemporary R&B, jazz, urban gospel, and new music from both rising and established artists. With an expanded library of approximately 3,000 songs, the station deliberately avoids hip-hop and rap, positioning itself as a community alternative to commercial counterparts such as KSFM and KHYL. All programming is commercial-free. Talk programming plays a significant role in the station's schedule, with shows including In Black America, Free Talk Live, Health Matters, and Mid-Day Connect. Music programming blocks include Gospel Soul Sunday, The Smooth Vibe, New Music Mondays, Hot Lunch Special, and Friday Night Dance Party. The station originally launched on 97.7 FM with limited coverage in eastern Sacramento County.
