A classic rock-formatted radio station operating at 102.5 MHz in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, currently owned by iHeartMedia. The station holds a designation as an FCC superpower station, with an effective radiated power of 55,000 watts, exceeding the standard maximum for Class B FM stations. Studios and offices are located in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania, adjacent to Interstate 79, and the transmitter is situated on Pittsburgh's North Side. The station first signed on December 11, 1946, as KQV-FM, simulcasting its AM sister station KQV. Under ABC ownership, the station adopted a freeform rock format in 1970 called "Love," created by ABC programming director Allen Shaw. The current call letters were adopted in December 1970, derived from the word "Wonderful Dove" as a nod to the era's peace movement. In the fall of 1971, Shaw and ABC Radio executive Bob Henaberry replaced freeform programming with one of the earliest implementations of the Album-Oriented Rock format, emphasizing album cuts over singles with minimal disc jockey commentary. Since 2006, the station has been the highest-rated radio station in the Pittsburgh market, surpassing longtime leader KDKA. It serves as a flagship station for the Pittsburgh Steelers radio network, along with sister station WBGG. The station broadcasts via HD Radio, with its HD2 subchannel carrying Steelers Nation Radio in a sports format. Morning programming features the Randy Baumann and DVE Morning Show, and the station also carries Mike Prisuta's Sports Page and The Rock & Roll Basement with Chad Tyson.
