WVOS.95.9 FM

WVOS-FM is a commercial radio station broadcasting at 95.9 MHz with a classic hits format, licensed to Liberty, New York, and owned by Vince Benedetto through Bold Gold Media Group, L.P. The station supplements its music programming with content from ABC News Radio and Compass Media Networks. The station's history begins on January 12, 1967, when it signed on as WVOS. It operated for years in simulcast with AM sister station WVOS, initially in a middle-of-the-road format blending standards with light adult contemporary music. In 1990, under owner Gene Blabey, the simulcast pair switched to country to compete against market rival WSUL. After nine years in country format, both stations became affiliates of Waitt Radio's hot adult contemporary format. Watermark Communications purchased WSUL in 2005 and subsequently acquired the simulcast stations, returning them to country format under the branding "Country 95.9." On October 31, 2007, the simulcast was split for the first time: WVOS AM moved to Spanish-language ESPN Deportes while WVOS-FM adopted the classic hits format it carries today, branding itself as "The Greatest Hits of All Time." The station was home to the "Bop Shop," a program hosted by John Manzi that ran for nearly 40 years before ending in September 2021, recognized as the longest-running program in Catskills radio history. Effective November 30, 2016, Watermark Communications sold WVOS-FM along with sister stations to Bold Gold Media Group for $1.6 million. According to spring 2011 Arbitron ratings, the station ranked as Sullivan County's most-listened-to radio outlet.
