Broadcasting to the greater Mobile metropolitan area, this station features an urban adult contemporary and Southern blues music format. This programming direction was initiated on July 15, 2012, as part of a significant multi-station deal. The station's operational base is in Midtown Mobile, with its transmission facilities located near Robertsdale, Alabama. It is owned and operated by Cumulus Media, with Cumulus Licensing LLC holding the broadcast license. E.J. Greig is the current Program Director. The station commenced broadcast operations on May 19, 1966, under the call letters WATM-FM. Over its history, the station has undergone numerous call sign changes, including WSKR on October 6, 1980; WIZD-FM on December 7, 1987; WGCX on October 7, 1988; WDWG on October 11, 1994; WYOK on January 11, 1999; and WABD on February 28, 2012. The call sign was briefly WLVM on July 16, 2012, before settling on its current designation on July 23, 2012. Ownership of the station has also changed hands multiple times throughout its history. Original owner Southland Broadcasting Company sold WATM-FM to Talton Broadcasting Company of Escambia County in 1979. Keymarket Gulf Coast, Inc., acquired the station in 1984, followed by Wescom of Alabama, Inc., in 1988. Capitol Broadcasting Company, LLC, purchased the station in 1994, and Clear Channel Communications, through its subsidiary Clear Channel Radio License, Inc., acquired it in 1997. An internal reorganization within Clear Channel transferred the license to Clear Channel Metroplex Licenses, Inc., in December 1997.
