The 102.9 frequency signed on April 13, 1987 as a Class A FM station in Sheridan. It passed through several formats and operators over the following decades, including an oldies format as KQLV "Q-102," a country format as KXIX "Kix 103," a soft adult contemporary format as KEZQ, and another soft AC iteration as KVLO. None of these music formats achieved significant ratings success against stronger competitors in the Little Rock market.
