A commercial FM radio station licensed to Greenback, Tennessee, and serving the Knoxville metropolitan area. The station is owned by Loud Media and operates studios and offices on the fifth floor of The Sunsphere in Knoxville. The station signed on the air on June 13, 1985, as WQLA. It underwent several call sign changes over the decades, operating as WQLA-FM and later WTNQ before its most recent identity. Loud Media acquired the signal in 2020, initially stunting with music from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s before launching a classic country format called "Q104.9" with the tagline "Tennessee's Throwback Country." Following the sale's consummation in November 2020, the station transitioned through Christmas programming before relaunching in late December 2020 as "104.9 Lake FM" with a classic hits format under the branding "Knoxville's Greatest Hits." The Lake FM format, which Loud Media had previously deployed in Upstate New York markets, was reflected in a call sign change to WPLA in July 2021. In September 2023, the station dropped the classic hits format and relaunched under the WKVL call sign as "104.9 KVL," adopting a contemporary hits radio playlist focused on 1990s and 2000s music with the tagline "'90s and 2000s Throwbacks!" In October 2025, the station expanded its playlist to include 1980s tracks alongside its 1990s, 2000s, and some 2010s content.
