A non-commercial Christian adult contemporary radio station based in the Greater Houston area of Texas, owned and operated by Hope Media Group, formerly known as the KSBJ Educational Foundation. The station traces its origins to 1982, when it signed on the air as part of an agreement stemming from a community protest over the 1979 sale and format change of a local Christian broadcaster. The founding group, Something Better Educational Foundation, negotiated a non-commercial license and received support from the former owners of the sold station, including donation of its music library. The station signed on at 88.1 MHz before relocating to its current 89.3 MHz frequency in 1987 through a swap with another station. Over subsequent decades it expanded its reach through translators and full-power acquisitions, eventually covering a wide geographic swath of southeast Texas including areas south and west of Houston, the Beaumont-Liberty corridor, and communities extending to Navasota, College Station, Brenham, and Victoria. Hope Media Group also operates NGEN Radio, an online-exclusive Christian hip-hop and pop platform, and the Spanish-language Vida Unida Christian AC format originating from sister station KHVU. The organization is structured as a listener-supported, non-profit ministry governed by a diverse board of directors drawn from across the greater Houston metropolitan area.
