Broadcasting at 101.1 MHz FM, this adult Top 40 and contemporary hit radio station has served Northeast Wisconsin and the Fox Cities region for decades. The station is owned and operated by Midwest Communications, a Wausau-based broadcasting company, and forms part of an eight-station cluster in the Green Bay market. Studios are located in the Green Bay suburb of Bellevue on Bellevue Street, while the transmitter tower sits on Scray Hill in Ledgeview in Brown County, a site shared with WBAY-TV, WPNE-TV, and WPNE-FM. The station's origins date to August 13, 1947, when it signed on as WJPG-FM under ownership of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. The Norbertine Order of Priests subsequently acquired the frequency and operated it as WBAY-FM with easy-listening and middle-of-the-road programming for many years. Midwest Communications purchased the station in the mid-1970s as part of an acquisition that included WBAY-AM, and on September 1, 1975, the new call letters WIXX were assigned alongside the contemporary format that defined the station's modern era. The morning drive show, branded as Huggie, Natalie and Corey, anchors the daily lineup along with a roster of midday, afternoon, and nighttime hosts. The station has built a consistent presence in the Green Bay radio market through its CHR format, regular contests, and community engagement programming. It maintains an active online presence with school fundraising initiatives, concert promotions, and local weather alert services aimed at Northeast Wisconsin listeners.
