WQSC AM 1340

A commercial AM radio station broadcasting on 1340 kHz, transmitting at 1,000 watts with studios and offices on Marksfield Drive and a transmitter located off Braswell Street. The station's history spans decades, beginning in 1946 under the call sign WHAN before evolving through multiple ownership and format changes. A unique period of operation included a distinctive programming approach that incorporated good music, local and regional sports, religious content, and weather forecasting. The station later adopted sports radio formatting, beach music programming to promote regional cultural traditions, and ultimately transitioned to a classic country format. An FM translator on 98.5 MHz extended coverage to listeners in outlying areas. The station's license was cancelled in December 2025 by the Federal Communications Commission.
