It is owned by the Benett Kessler II Trust. The station has undergone several format changes over its history. After operating as an adult contemporary outlet for many years, KSRW shifted to an alternative rock format on September 6, 2015, before transitioning to classic rock in May 2022. In April 2025 the station relaunched under the Classic Rock Asylum branding. KSRW carries a mix of classic rock music and locally produced programming. Weekday local productions include Eastern Sierra news segments and interview programs at 7:00 a.m., 8:00 a.m., noon, and 5:00 p.m., with daily fish and snow reports relevant to the region's outdoor recreation economy.
