0:34 Intervenant 1 We have some light rain. It's 12. Good morning. I'm Carolyn Moore with Coast Local Headlines. Harbor Grace, RCMP are investigating after they got a report just before 10 Sunday night of vehicles doing stunts in the parking lot outside the Danny Cleary Harbor Grace Community Center on CB Way. It's believed some of the vehicles had participated in a car show earlier in the day in Carboneer before moving to the arena parking lot. Multiple vehicles were seen seen performing stunts in the lot, causing extensive damage. Police would like to speak with anyone with information or video footage in the area at the time. And the P.U.B. adjusted fuel prices overnight. Gas increased 1.3 cents. It's now at $1.87.7 a liter on the Avalon. Diesel's a tenth of a cent lower. Stove oil's almost half a cent less, and furnace oil fell just slightly.

1:24 Brought to you by Dalton's Home Hardware Building Center, Cape Royal. Royal Daltons provides homeowners and contractors with competitive prices, exceptional service, and everyday delivery to St. John's and surrounding areas. Call or email today for an estimate. Well, Russ, still a little bit damp and gray, but at least the temperatures are back up into the 20s.

1:43 Intervenant 2 They certainly are, yeah. And the showers will be ending here shortly. Already ended out towards Clarendonville. The eastern Avalon still seeing some activity. But we go to 21 this afternoon with a lingering cloud. Might see a few bright spots, but nothing significant. again south of southwest release at 15 to 25 cloudy maybe some localized fog and drizzle tonight particularly right along the immediate shore lows near 15 lots of cloud of isolated showers 22 tomorrow winds near winds will be light uh got a lot of cloud tomorrow night down to 15 turning sunny 24 on thursday that's nice and mostly sunny 25 on friday summer returns for the end of the week i'm precision weather meteorologist ralph smurley for coast 1011

2:23 Intervenant 1 Thanks for us in Clarenville. Right now it is cloudy and 13 degrees. We've got some light rain in 12.

2:30 Intervenant 4 Coast all-day traffic. It's for O'Neill Nissan. Lease the all-new 2026 Nissan Sentra S for just $161 bi-weekly plus tax. Available now at O'Neill Nissan, Cornbrook Nissan, or Grand Falls, Windsor Nissan. A number of calls on the coastline telling us about an accident on Kenmount Road as you turn into Donovan's on DeBruce involving a tractor trailer. Now, traffic very slow on Bruce Street, especially with traffic both directions going to be affected here. Looks like you're not going to do that anytime soon, so expect it to be slow. Take an alternate route. All interchange ramps at Pitts Memorial Drive are now open. Highway northbound to Topsail Road remains closed. That's for construction. Watch for workers on the TCH near the Foxtrap overpass. We have some slow-moving traffic, as you would expect, at the intersection. Portugal Coast Road, Majors Path, and Airport Heights Drive. Drive. A number of projects on the go, Grind and Patch on Black Marsh Road, Empire, Kenmount, Columbus, and Waterford Bridge Road, and Prince Philip Drive eastbound traffic. All traffic near the University Center will be diverted into Irwin's Road westbound traffic, the left turning lane onto Livier's Loop. That's closed, so you're going to have to use an alternate route. One ferry on the go from Dell Island, and if you have a traffic tip or an update of any kind, give us a call Mack Coastline, 754-1011. It's fun for the whole family. Mornings on the Coast with Bill and Carolyn.

7:50 Coast 1011. Good morning. It's Bill and Carolyn.

7:54 Intervenant 1 A little light rain in 12, going to 21 with some cloud later on.

7:58 Intervenant 4 Newsflash. We're talking about food.

7:59 Intervenant 1 Yes, I know. Oh, yes.

8:01 Intervenant 4 But what food...

8:02 Intervenant 1 Is one of our obsessions.

8:03 Intervenant 4 ...tastes better the next day? Yeah.

8:06 Intervenant 1 I like a chicken and pepper mix that starts out kind of as fajitas, and then the next day, put it over rice. Yeah. My goodness. And I am making that today.

8:17 Intervenant 4 Mine is not so glamorous.

8:19 Intervenant 1 Because we got talking about this yesterday, so I was like, oh, yeah, okay.

8:22 Intervenant 4 Now, you looked at me with a frowny face about –

8:25 Intervenant 1 It wasn't a frowny face.

8:27 Intervenant 4 It was, ew, how could you eat that face?

8:28 Intervenant 1 Yeah, it was a disgusted face, and you're not the only one. I'm blown away by this.

8:33 Intervenant 4 Well, yeah, Kraft Dinner the next day, but not just Kraft Dinner the next day. Instead of zapping it in the microwave, I fry it up, and pretty much I thought, like Carolyn did, I was the only one on the planet that did that. You are not. Charlene steps up on our Coast Facebook page and says, and I quote, Quote, I always fry Kraft dinner next day, too.

8:52 Intervenant 1 Yeah, a lot of folks saying lasagna, pizza, soups, any soup. Yeah, soup is fantastic the next day. And again, it's because it has a chance to sit there and absorb the flavor. It's true. It marinates. Chili, for sure. Goulash.

9:14 Oh, Denise is very specific. Creco pizza reheated in the oven. Pea soup, boiled beans, homemade spaghetti, goulash pizza. Melinda's got a list. Yep. Boiled beans. I don't know about boiled beans, but baked beans? Sure. Yes.

9:30 Intervenant 4 TL, you and my daughter get along great because my daughter's a big fan of leftover cooked dinner. Jake's dinner. That's where she loves it the next day. She's not a fan of it the day of. Right. But the next day, now TL says cooked dinner fried up into a hash. Okay.

9:45 Intervenant 1 Yeah.

9:46 Intervenant 5 That's good eating.

9:48 Intervenant 1 No, I said to somebody the other day, what do I do with leftover potatoes? Cut them into slices and fry them in a frying pan. See? Yes.

9:55 Intervenant 4 The frying pan is your friend. Dollar fries. I like it. I like it. So get in on this conversation. If there's something that you believe is the correct answer to this question, what food tastes better the next day? Let us know on our Coast Facebook page or call us on the Coastline, 754-1011.

A steel cage match, a ladder match, first ever women's triple threat match. That's when three women get in the ring and they fight each other at the same time. Okay. Yeah, and Battle Royal where everybody gets in the ring and gets thrown over the top rope. Sounds like good fun.

There's a video for your Instagram, Plus, some of these wrestlers are going to be there for some pictures, autographs, Q&A, and that sort of thing. That's fun. But every time I talk about this whole wrestling thing that's going on, I always think about my nan. It seems like here in Newfoundland especially, everyone has an elderly relative that loved wrestling. My nan would get up in the morning. She would have breakfast, do her rosary, then turn on the TV because wrestling would only come on Saturday mornings. and carolyn she went from this quiet religious woman to boom you jackass you're getting what you deserve oh like i'm like i'm so proud i miss man so much yes oh she would i'm telling you she clenched her little fists and she would get her frustration tried to yeah tried to temper her her emotions and not say the word that would make baby jesus cry right and no she was i'm I'm telling you, she would just get right in front of that TV. You weren't allowed to watch anything else. It was all about her. She loved Jake the Snake Roberts. Really? Yeah. All right. Jake was her boy. That was, I mean, it's crazy. But we are going to give you a chance to win tickets to that fan fest. And yes, you'll be able to meet all the wrestlers and such and qualify for some VIP tickets to Summercade, which will happen this Friday night.

25:08 Intervenant 4 724 with Bill and Carolyn.

25:10 Intervenant 1 Mostly cloudy, still a little bit of rain falling in some spots. We're at 12.

25:13 Intervenant 4 All right, things are slow on Kenmount heading into Donovan's Industrial Park due to an earlier accident, so expect some slowdowns there. If you take an alternate route, do that. There's Ace of Base in the sign on the coast.

31:32 Coast 1011, it is 731 with Bill and Carolyn.

31:36 Intervenant 1 Right now we've got ourselves a bit of rain, it's 12 degrees.

31:39 Intervenant 4 So I feel very comfortable saying these words without cringing now because, well, as a parent, it's that time of year, back to school.

31:44 Intervenant 1 It is, just a couple of weeks before the kids get back into the school routine, which means it's probably time to start the routine.

31:53 Intervenant 4 Yeah, going to bed a little earlier.

31:55 Intervenant 1 Getting up a little earlier.

31:56 Intervenant 4 Yeah, getting that sleep schedule in place.

31:58 Intervenant 1 Exactly, because you don't want to spring that on them the night before.

32:01 Intervenant 4 No. Those are the sounds you don't need to hear in September.

32:06 Intervenant 1 And the next morning it's like, I'm sick. No, you're not. Get your butt out of bed.

32:11 Intervenant 4 Here's something else, though, that even I never thought of when my kids were small going to school. But Dr. Amy Pike, a board-certified veterinary behaviorist with Animal Behavior Wellness Center in Virginia, says you have to think about the family dog.

32:26 Intervenant 1 That's interesting, you know, because with the kids home, maybe they're out playing with the dog in the yard or taking them for walks randomly throughout the day.

32:36 Intervenant 4 Well, there's a lot of activity in the morning. So there's like, there's people around.

32:39 Intervenant 1 And let me tell you, dogs are all about routine.

32:42 Intervenant 4 They really are.

32:43 Intervenant 1 They really are. They know when you come home. They know when you leave. They know when they can go and lie on your bed when they're not supposed to. All of that stuff. off so uh getting your pet back into a routine is something you need to think about well dr pike

32:57 Intervenant 4 says a little preparation now can help prevent stress anxiety and unwanted behaviors if you get things chewed up in the house this is probably where it results from they might have some sort of separation anxiety yeah so start the routine early they say go ahead shift wake up times walks meals and all that uh keep dogs mentally stimulated right you know that works uh plan the bathroom Threw them breaks. That's important. Very much so. Yep. Try calming background noise.

33:23 Intervenant 1 We leave the radio on when we're gone.

33:24 Intervenant 4 See? That's always a good idea. Just something, just make it seem like there's activity going around. Exactly. And make departures low-key. Avoid dramatic goodbyes. I'm guilty of that. Really? I was guilty of that.

33:36 Intervenant 1 I always do just a little head scratch and go, see you in a few hours. Yeah. A little scritchy-scritchy. Yeah.

33:40 Intervenant 4 And I leave, and the dog is just sitting there with a sad look. I go, oh, come on, little guy. I'll be back here.

33:46 Intervenant 1 See, I don't do that. Yeah. I do that when I get home. I'm back.

33:51 Intervenant 3 Look at you.

33:52 Intervenant 4 But, you know, kids will get a little sick. Oh, we're going to leave you home all day. Oh, no. I know it sounds foolish, but dogs are smarter than you think.

34:00 Intervenant 1 Like I said, they are all about routine. If you think they're not, then you don't have a dog.

34:05 Intervenant 4 So if you don't want your furniture chewed up, be sure you follow Dr. Pike's advice and think about the family pet, your dog, your fur baby, as well as the kids during back to school. Coast all-day traffic is brought to you by Canadian Tire, your local lawn care headquarters. Shop lawnmowers, grass seed, mulch, soils, fertilizers, and more at Canadian Tire. Kelsey Drive, Merchant Drive, or Hebron Way. Kenmount Road, Donovan. There was a tractor-trailer accident earlier, and it looks like things are still a little slow in and around that area. Okay, so slow down. Take an alternate route if you can. Things are looking okay now on Bruce Street, but as they clear that up and the volume increases, it's going to get slower. before it gets better. TCH near the Foxtrap Overpass. They now have some speed cameras there, don't forget, so workers are working and you need to slow down. All interchange ramps at Pitts Memorial Drive are now open. Now Highway Northbound at Topsail Road remains closed. They have some finishing work done there. Slowdowns at the intersection of Portugal Cove Road, Majors Path and Airport Heights Drive. Got some road repair on Brookfield Road. Both directions being affected near Tobin's Road. Kelsey Drive and Thorburn Road, Goldstone Street, getting some work done there. A number of grind and patch projects on the go. And Prince Philip Drive, eastbound traffic. All traffic near the University Center will be diverted onto Irwin's Road. Westbound traffic, the left turning lane onto Livier's Loop is closed. So you'll have to take an alternate path this morning. One ferry sailing from Bell Island. And if you have a traffic tip, call the coastline 754-1011.

35:35 Intervenant 3 My summer soundtrack. At work, the music takes me to the coast.

43:36 Coast 1011, Robert Palmer, Simply Irresistible. Good morning, it's Bill and Carolyn.

43:42 Intervenant 1 It's cloudy, we've got ourselves a bit of rain as well. It's 12 degrees.

43:46 Intervenant 4 People love their food.

43:47 Intervenant 1 Oh yes, yes we do. And leftovers. Yeah, leftovers.

43:50 Intervenant 4 Sometimes you find sheer joy in opening up the refrigerator and seeing last night's dinner's still there. Some of it anyway, so you're going to warm that up because some food actually does taste better the next day. And that's what we're asking you. Which food does that for you?

44:04 Intervenant 1 I'm with Jen on this one, Chinese food.

44:05 Intervenant 4 yes yes oh man there's one i never thought of oh maryland how could we forget this hot turkey

44:13 Intervenant 1 sandwiches turkey the next day of course good lord oh yeah it just keeps getting better and better a lot of people saying chili um you know jeff i have to go with chili on this anything else is hit or miss that's true yeah uh stew lasagna a lot of pasta in there uh soup obviously you know again because it does it adds something i don't know the flavors get mixed better or something but soup is definitely better the next day you said uh fajita fixings uh yeah i make like chicken and peppers and whatever becomes like the sauce on that and then the next day i put it on rice yeah because you give it an extra day to let all the all the flavor all the pepperness get into the chickenness goodness cue the homer since and drool yes gina how could Oh, my Lord. Any dessert from a special occasion because it feels like a sinful treat on an ordinary day. Dessert. Dessert's good on the day of, on the day after, next week. Yeah. Dessert.

45:16 Intervenant 4 See, I don't get to experience that because in a house of children in it, any dessert in the fridge is quickly disposed of. Oh. Yes. Okay. Now, earlier I mentioned Kraft Dinner. I love this the day after. I fry it up. Carolyn?

45:30 Intervenant 1 I thought it was the weirdest thing I'd ever heard.

45:32 Intervenant 4 Until Charlene shared on our Coast Facebook page, I always fry Kraft dinner the next day, too. I had never heard of that. Man, you've got to try it now. It's a culinary delight.
