Radio Uruguay AM 1050 (CX26 SODRE) is Uruguay's flagship public radio station, part of Radiodifusión Nacional del Uruguay (RNU) under the Servicio de Comunicación Audiovisual Nacional (SECAN), a unit of the Ministry of Education and Culture. Tracing its origins to SODRE's founding in 1929 and the inauguration of public broadcasting in 1930, Radio Uruguay serves as the national speech station offering comprehensive news, current affairs, cultural programming, and variety content. The station broadcasts from Montevideo on 1050 AM and maintains an extensive repeater network reaching every corner of Uruguay including Salto (104.3 FM), Paysandú (103.5 FM), Tacuarembó (103.7 FM), Mercedes (92.1 FM), Artigas (98.7 FM), Minas (106.1 FM), Durazno (105.1 FM), Treinta y Tres (92.7 FM), Fray Bentos (102.9 FM), and Colonia (103.9 FM).
