An independently-operated National Public Radio member station that functions as a community public radio broadcaster. The station operates as a non-commercial, non-profit organization, incorporating volunteers in its news, music programs, and live events. It carries content from NPR, American Public Media, Public Radio International, and the BBC World Service, supplemented by locally-produced programming including news magazines, call-in shows, and specialty music programs. The station broadcasts from a transmitter located on Twin Peaks. Affiliated with the San Francisco Unified School District, it includes monthly board meeting broadcasts and daily school lunch menu listings. The station expanded its community engagement in 2021 by launching a live programming series at its studio events space, featuring town hall conversations, concerts, film screenings, and panel discussions.
