Studios and transmitter towers are located on Yellowstone Road in Rock Springs. Sister stations include KSIT 99.7, KQSW 96.5, and KMRZ-FM 106.7 FM. The station's history dates to 1938, when it was originally licensed as KVRS, with broadcasts beginning in 1942 on 1400 kHz. In its earliest operational years the station served as a local affiliate of the Mutual Broadcasting System. It adopted its present call sign KRKK and moved to 1360 kHz on September 1, 1974. In the late 1970s the station was noted for extensive local news coverage during a period of rapid economic expansion in the region. Programming in the early years included Top 40 music before shifting to oldies in the 1980s under a Cumulus Media-distributed format. In May 2009, the station transitioned to conservative talk radio programming. On December 14, 2014, it rebranded as 1360 ESPN, carrying sports talk content. After approximately three years in sports programming, the station returned to its oldies identity under the Unforgettable Memories brand. The station's signal has been monitored as far as California and, in isolated reports, as distant as New Zealand.
