A community radio station licensed in Whitesburg, Kentucky, owned and operated by Appalshop, Incorporated — an arts and media organization rooted in the central Appalachian region. The station broadcasts at 88.7 MHz and extends its reach through seven additional translator facilities. Programming is also available via internet streaming. The station suffered damage during the historic 2022 Kentucky floods, which caused widespread destruction across eastern Kentucky. Since then, the station has relocated its studios to a new facility at 253 Main Street in Whitesburg. Community engagement is central to operations: the station broadcasts a weekly events update on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings highlighting free public events in the listening area, and maintains an online community calendar. WMMT has partnered with organizations including the Humanization Project on initiatives such as "The Power of Your Voice," focused on community connections and social change.
