A commercial AM radio station licensed to Valdez, Alaska, and owned by North Wave Communications, Inc. The station airs a combined country music and talk radio format, serving listeners in the southcentral Alaska coastal community. The Federal Communications Commission assigned the KVAK call letters to this Valdez facility on August 9, 1982. Prior to that assignment, the same call sign had been used by an AM station in Atchison, Kansas, which began broadcasting in 1939 on 1420 kHz.
