A non-commercial public radio station licensed to the Baltimore area and serving the broader metropolitan region with adult album alternative programming. Originating as a college radio operation in the early 1970s, the station evolved through multiple format changes including smooth jazz before transitioning to alternative music in 2002. The station became a strong supporter of the local independent music scene and produces free concert series in downtown areas. Currently owned by Baltimore Public Media, the station operates with 10,000 watts effective radiated power using HD Radio technology. The station previously simulcast into Washington, D.C. and maintains partnerships with regional public radio outlets.
