A commercial FM radio station licensed to San Mateo, California, owned and operated by Cumulus Media and broadcasting a classic rock format to the greater San Francisco Bay Area. The station is the FM flagship of the San Francisco 49ers Radio Network. Studios and offices are located in Daly City, with the transmitter sited on San Bruno Mountain in Brisbane, operating with an effective radiated power of 8,900 watts. The station broadcasts in the HD Radio hybrid digital format. The frequency has a varied and historically significant broadcasting past. It launched in 1963 as KUFY, airing easy listening and beautiful music programming as the FM counterpart of KOFY. Following a call sign change to KVEZ in 1968, the station pivoted in 1975 to urban contemporary under the branding KSOL — becoming the first urban format station on the FM dial in the Bay Area, a shift influenced in part by local musician Sly Stone. KSOL's final broadcast aired on February 10, 1992, with Janet Jackson's "Miss You Much" as its closing song. The frequency then operated as rhythmic contemporary KYLD before eventually transitioning through additional formats. The station's current classic rock identity, branded as 107.7 The Bone, reflects the Bay Area's longstanding connection to rock music culture.
