Operating on 1030 kHz and branded as "The Bible Station," this non-commercial AM broadcaster holds a license to Maplewood, Minnesota, while serving the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Owned by the Central Baptist Theological Seminary of Minneapolis, its call letters reflect that institutional connection. The format consists entirely of Christian talk and teaching programming. Daytime operations run at the maximum permissible 50,000 watts, but because 1030 AM is a clear-channel frequency protected for WBZ in Boston, overnight power drops to 4,000 watts with a directional five-tower antenna array. The transmitter is located in Woodbury, Minnesota. Programming also reaches listeners through FM translator K250BY at 97.9 MHz, which broadcasts from the IDS Center in downtown Minneapolis with a directional signal aimed northwest and southeast. The station's history traces back to 1963, when a construction permit was awarded to Gerald H. Bell through Ramsey Broadcasting Company for a 250-watt daytime-only signal at 1010 AM, initially under the call sign WGHB. It shifted to WRCR in late 1963, launched as Washington-Ramsey County Radio in 1964, then became WJSW in 1967 carrying polka and varied formats. When WMIN dropped its call letters in 1972, the station adopted them and aired a Middle of the Road format. A mid-1980s frequency move to 1030 AM brought a significant daytime power boost.
