A noncommercial educational FM radio station licensed to North Baltimore, Ohio, operating at 88.3 MHz and serving the surrounding Hancock County region. The station is owned and operated by The University of Findlay and functions as the campus broadcasting outlet for that institution. The station traces its origins to 1971, when it launched as a carrier current station designated WVFC, available in select residence halls at 560 AM. Business major Bill Rumbold and religion major Stan Morthart were instrumental in establishing the early operation. On November 1, 1973, the station received its FM license and relaunched as WLFC-FM, initially transmitting at just 10 watts on 88.3 MHz. The station began broadcasting in stereo on January 23, 1982, at 155 watts effective radiated power. A significant infrastructure upgrade occurred on October 9, 2010, when WLFC relocated to a new transmitter site, allowing a power increase to 4,600 watts — a more than twenty-nine-fold boost that substantially expanded its reach across Hancock County. The station carries a variety format and serves as both a campus community resource and a training ground for University of Findlay students interested in broadcasting. Its programming reflects the academic mission of its parent institution, blending campus news and student-produced content with broader public interest programming.
