Licensed to Pawleys Island, South Carolina, this mainstream urban station at 98.5 FM serves the Grand Strand area and is operated by Cumulus Media. The Federal Communications Commission has authorized it to broadcast with an effective radiated power of 6,100 watts. Studios are located on U.S. Highway 17 in Murrells Inlet, with the transmitter situated approximately one mile to the west. The station signed on October 1, 1993, initially carrying an adult contemporary and sports talk format. In January 1995, it shifted to urban adult contemporary under the Kiss FM brand, adding the Tom Joyner Morning Show. By 1996 it had become the top-rated station in its market. Ratings fluctuated in subsequent years as the programming skewed toward older women listeners following a change in program directors. Additional hip-hop content was introduced in the 2000s, and the format leaned further toward adult programming after the 2009 launch of Power 100.3, a competing hip-hop outlet also owned by Cumulus. In July 2010, the station converted to a mainstream urban format, simultaneously acquiring the syndicated Rickey Smiley Morning Show, which replaced Tom Joyner. In January 2020, The Breakfast Club from Premiere Networks was added to the morning lineup. On-air personalities over the years have included Monique, Michael Baisden, and Doug Davis.
