A digital substation of KTTZ-FM (89.1 MHz), a public radio station in Lubbock, Texas, owned by Texas Tech University. KTTZ-FM operates as Texas Tech Public Media and carries a blend of NPR news programming, classical music, and jazz. The station's history began in January 1973 when LISD signed on KLSD at 10 watts. It changed its name to KOHM and operated under Lubbock Independent School District until 1986, when the district found itself unable to sustain the operation. Texas Tech University acquired the license in 1988 and expanded the station's transmitter power significantly, enabling broader regional coverage. KTTZ-FM serves as a key provider of local and statewide public affairs journalism, with content contributed to the Texas Newsroom public media collaborative.
