A hot adult contemporary radio station licensed to Patchogue, New York, and serving Long Island. Owned by Connoisseur Media, the station operates studios and offices at Airport Plaza in Farmingdale, New York, with its transmitter situated on Telescope Hill in Farmingville. It broadcasts in the HD Radio hybrid format; the HD2 channel carries the mainstream rock programming of co-owned 94.3 WWSK. The station first signed on December 12, 1952, under the Suffolk Broadcasting Corporation as the FM counterpart to co-owned WALK (1370 AM). In its early years, programming included classical music, big band, adult standards, and jazz. The station was originally powered at 15,000 watts, reaching only the western part of Suffolk County. The WALK stations were sold in 1963 to the Island Broadcasting System, which was owned in part by NBC News anchorman Chet Huntley. Chancellor Communications acquired them in 1997, followed by Clear Channel Communications in 2000. Clear Channel rebranded as iHeartMedia in 2014. One of the station's longest-running programs was "Klein 'til 9 and Again 'til 10," hosted by Bob Klein, who served as morning drive disc jockey from 1966 to 1992. The station was among the first on Long Island to adopt an all-Christmas music format during the holiday season, a tradition that began on AM 1370 in 1995 and expanded to the FM signal in 2002. The all-holiday format now airs annually from approximately a week or two before Thanksgiving through Christmas Day. Current weekday morning programming is hosted by Mark Daniels and Cindy under the banner of the WALK Breakfast Club.
