A commercial country music radio station operating at 103,900 watts effective radiated power from a 584-foot tower in Hiawatha, Kansas, providing strong signal coverage across northeast Kansas. The station was originally constructed in 1977 by Mike Carter, who established a format combining country music with farm information and prioritized community connection at a time when FM radio was still an emerging medium. Carter sold to two employees, Gregory Buser and Robert Hilton, in 1985, and in 2021 Justin Fluke acquired KNZA Inc. along with five sister stations — KMZA 92.1 FM, KAIR 93.7 FM, KLZA 101.3 FM, and KTNC 107.1 FM/1230 AM. Current programming mixes contemporary country hits with classic country from the 1980s through 2000s. Regular features include a weekday morning show, local news and weather coverage, agricultural content, play-by-play broadcasts of local and regional high school athletics, and community-oriented segments.
