A commercial FM radio station based in Grants, New Mexico, the county seat of Cibola County in western New Mexico. The station broadcasts what it calls a "Sound Souvenirs" oldies format, drawing from a library of several thousand songs spanning decades of popular music. It operates as a Class C3 station at 265 watts, covering the local Grants area, and also feeds programming to FM translator K229CL at 93.7 MHz for partial Albuquerque coverage. The station was acquired by KD Radio Incorporated in January 2001. At the time of purchase, KDSK carried a hot country format, while KD Radio's established oldies format, previously developed for kdradio.com in California, aired on sister AM station KMIN (980 kHz). KMIN began simulcasting the Sound Souvenirs format on the internet in April 2001. Following strong ratings performance — reaching the top position in its market — the format migrated to KDSK-FM on June 14, 2004, with a brief period of simultaneous broadcasting on both stations preceding the full transition. The station has held FCC construction permits since 2005 to upgrade from a Class C2 to a Class C1 facility by relocating its tower and increasing effective radiated power, though operations have remained at the current lower-power configuration. Local programming includes area news, weather, and road conditions.
