A commercial AM radio station licensed to Hood County, Texas, operating at 1420 kHz with 500 watts of power using a directional antenna. The station broadcasts at all hours using a three-tower daytime array and a two-tower configuration at night. It airs a classic country format with an emphasis on Texas country artists, and it carries play-by-play coverage of Granbury High School football. In keeping with the school's team nickname, the station brands itself as "Pirate 1420." The station first signed on in 1980 under the call letters KPAR. Financial difficulties led to a reduction to daytime-only operation in 1986. The current call sign KPIR was adopted in 2002, and the station subsequently returned to round-the-clock broadcasting. It is owned by Jerry Reynolds, with the license held by KPIR Granbury, LLC. In addition to over-the-air transmission, programming is available via live stream on the station's website.
