Prairie Public FM 3 is the adult album alternative service of Prairie Public Broadcasting, a public media organization headquartered in Fargo, North Dakota. It operates as one of two distinct programming networks within Prairie Public's ten-frequency radio system, alongside the primary News and Classical network. The FM 3 service, originating from KFJM in Grand Forks and carried on 91.9 FM in the Fargo-Moorhead market, focuses on roots, rock, and jazz programming. Its flagship program is Into the Music with Mike Olson, a long-running locally produced music series. The service also carries World Cafe, a nationally distributed music program. In the Fargo-Moorhead market, KDSU carries a hybrid schedule combining FM 3 programming with elements of the main News and Classical network, airing roots and jazz content when the primary network broadcasts classical music. Prairie Public is a member station of National Public Radio, and the FM 3 service supplements its music programming with NPR news offerings including Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and Marketplace, as well as the locally produced Main Street interview program hosted by Ashley Thornberg and Craig Blumenshine. The adult album alternative network has expanded its reach across additional Prairie Public frequencies since its 2002 launch, reflecting demand for an alternative to the organization's classical and news-focused primary service.
