A commercial AM radio station licensed to Elgin, Illinois, serving the Fox Valley communities in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. The station's license is held by Elgin Community Broadcasting LLC. By day it operates at 1,000 watts non-directional; at night it increases to 1,300 watts with a directional antenna to protect co-channel stations. Programming is also carried on FM translator W244EJ at 96.7 MHz. WRMN first signed on in 1949, originally at 500 watts as a daytime-only operation owned by the Elgin Broadcasting Company. A companion FM station launched in September 1960 at 94.3 MHz, though that frequency later changed hands and format. In 2016 an agreement was reached to sell WRMN, along with KSHP and WBIG, to Pollack Broadcasting; the transaction closed January 31, 2017. The current format centers on talk radio and shopping programs. Weekday mornings feature a local news and information show branded as First Shift. Middays and some Saturday hours carry shopping programming and Tradio. The remainder of the schedule draws from nationally syndicated talk programs including Brian Kilmeade and Friends, The Jesse Kelly Show, Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis, and Coast to Coast AM with George Noory. Weekend offerings include Rich DiMuro on Tech, The Weekend with Michael Brown, Bill Handel on the Law, and Somewhere in Time with Art Bell. The station serves as flagship for the Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier League, a minor league baseball team.
