A commercial country music radio station licensed to West Des Moines and serving the central Iowa market, broadcasting on 92.5 MHz. Owned by Cumulus Media, it operates alongside sister station 97.3 KHKI as one of two country-format outlets the company operates in the Des Moines radio market. While KHKI targets current and recent country releases, this station maintains a broader playlist ranging from contemporary releases back through the 1980s and 1990s. Studios and offices are located on 109th Street in Urbandale, with the transmitter on NW 100th Street in Grimes, Iowa, operating at an effective radiated power of 41,000 watts. The station signed on February 4, 1978, under the call sign KANY at 106.3 MHz, licensed to Ankeny, Iowa. It was sold in May 1981 to Fuller-Jeffrey Broadcasting, which renamed it KJJY to reflect co-owner J.J. Jeffrey's initials and converted the format to country music. The station gradually established itself as a market force against the incumbent country leader, 1350 KSO on the AM band. In 1988 it relocated to 92.5 MHz with a power upgrade to 50,000 watts. Ownership passed to Citadel Broadcasting in 2003 and subsequently to Cumulus Media following the companies' merger in September 2011. In August 2014, the station became an early affiliate of the Nash Icons network, rebranding as "92.5 Nash Icon" before reverting to its KJJY identity in May 2019. Content includes local news segments and coverage of Iowa-focused stories.
