A non-profit FM radio station broadcasting primarily jazz music in a public radio format, licensed to Denver, Colorado, and owned by Rocky Mountain Public Media Inc. The station first signed on August 29, 1985, as an outgrowth of an effort by radio executive Hugo Morales and civil rights attorney Florence Hernández-Ramos to establish a Hispanic-controlled radio presence in the Denver area through the organization Radio Bilingüe. Since 1994, the station has operated from the Five Points Media Center at 2900 Welton Street in Denver's Five Points neighborhood, a historically significant district with deep ties to the city's African American and Latino communities. While jazz forms the core of its musical programming, the station maintains its identity as a Hispanic-controlled broadcaster, with news, public service announcements, and coverage of Hispanic and other minority community developments as regular programming elements. In 2013, KUVO merged into the Rocky Mountain PBS network. A 2019 local marketing agreement with the Open Media Foundation launched Denver Open Media on the KUVO-HD3 subchannel. The station's stated mission is to provide distinctive music, news, and informational programming that reflects the values and cultural diversity of its listener community. Programming includes regular features such as the Vinyl Vault segment, the Jazz Odyssey series, and the O'Zone program, as well as artist interviews and live performance coverage.
