Operating at 88.7 FM with an effective radiated power of 50,000 watts, this non-commercial public radio station is licensed to Buffalo, New York, and owned by the Western New York Public Broadcasting Association, doing business as Buffalo Toronto Public Media (BTPM). It is a member station of National Public Radio (NPR) and broadcasts from studios in the Lower Terrace section of downtown Buffalo, with programming also carried on satellite stations WUBJ (88.1 FM) in Jamestown and WOLN (91.3 FM) in Olean. Weekday programming follows a news, talk, and information format anchored by NPR's Morning Edition and All Things Considered, supplemented by Here and Now, Fresh Air, Marketplace, and Capitol Pressroom. A locally produced interview and call-in program, What's Next?, airs Monday through Thursday focused on Buffalo-area topics. Evening hours feature The Bridge, an adult album alternative music service that also runs full-time on the HD2 subchannel. The HD3 subchannel carries Spanish-language public radio. Weekend schedules include a wide range of public radio documentary and specialty programs, while the BBC World Service is heard overnight. The station signed on January 6, 1959, and carries high school football and interscholastic sports on Friday nights, simulcast on WNED-DT2.
