A noncommercial FM radio station broadcasting at 90.7 MHz, licensed to West Barnstable, Massachusetts, serving the Cape Cod region. Owned and operated by Cape Cod Community College, the station functions as an integral part of the college's communications program, providing students pursuing an Associate degree in communications with hands-on broadcast experience. The Makkay Broadcast Center on the Cape Cod Community College campus houses both studios and transmitting equipment. The station's programming centers on a classic alternative rock format, drawing from alternative hits spanning the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Students serve as on-air personalities and station managers, merging academic instruction with practical experience. In addition to music programming, the station produces a growing catalog of podcasts. From 1992 to 1999, WKKL simulcast portions of programming from WBUR, the public radio station based in Boston. That arrangement ended following WBUR's 1997 acquisition of a 1240 AM facility in West Yarmouth, whose signal overlap with WKKL created a conflict of interest. In late December 2019, the station was forced off the air after its radio tower sustained damage. Restoration was made possible through a donation from the Cape Cod Community College Educational Foundation, and the station returned to broadcast by late December 2020. The station continues to operate around the clock, streaming online alongside its over-the-air signal, ensuring its programming is accessible to listeners throughout and beyond the Cape Cod area.
