Operating at 1320 kHz AM, this station first signed on October 8, 1950, making it one of the earliest radio outlets in southeastern Massachusetts. Its transmitter is located in North Attleborough while the station is licensed to Attleboro. Currently owned by Attleboro Access Cable Systems, it is home to Four Deep Sports Talk, a weekly sports radio program. The station was originally assigned the call letters WIRD before changing to WARA on March 29, 1950. It launched with 1 kilowatt of power, later increased to 5 kilowatts day and night after FCC approval granted in 1986. Ownership remained with the Ottmar family through the 1980s, with the station operating as a talk format outlet branded "Talk 1320" by 1995. That year, then-owner Dr. Michele Merolla of Fairhaven began syndicating the overnight program Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell, reserving the final half-hour for calls from local listeners. In 1998 the station converted to Spanish-language programming under the call letters WJYT following acquisition by ADD Radio Group. Further changes followed: the call letters became WARL in December 2000, and the station cycled through several formats including a web and internet TV hybrid, easy listening with host Norm Jagolinzer, and urban programming branded "Power 1320" in 2002. The station's current identity reflects a community-focused orientation in the Attleboro and North Attleboro area.
