Ai FM is Malaysia's premier national Chinese-language radio station, operated by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) as the public broadcaster's service to the Chinese-speaking community. Originally established as Radio 5 and rebranded as Ai FM in 2005, the station broadcasts 24 hours daily in multiple Chinese dialects including Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, and Hakka, reflecting the linguistic diversity of Malaysia's Chinese population. Broadcasting from Angkasapuri in Kuala Lumpur, Ai FM delivers a comprehensive mix of Chinese pop music, news, cultural programming, and community-oriented content that serves Chinese Malaysians nationwide. The station plays a vital role as the only government-operated Chinese radio network, providing public service broadcasting alongside entertainment. Before the launch of commercial Chinese stations like 988 in 1997, Ai FM (as Radio 5) held a monopoly as Malaysia's sole Chinese radio station.
