0:55 And now, here's our Creation Moment host, Ian Taylor.

1:08 发言人 2 not your great-great-grandfather? This might seem like a silly question, but when it comes to the claimed evolutionary fossil evidence for man's evolution, our claimed great-great-grandfather has turned up in the wrong period of history. A re-dating of Homo erectus fossil skulls discovered in 1931 and 1933 has brought these supposed human evolutionary ancestors squarely into modern history. This dating is supported by the geological setting in which they were found. In fact, two excavation sites right next to each other yielded both modern humans and Homo erectus remains. The most likely age for the Homo erectus remains were 27,000 years before present. You must remember, though, that these are evolutionary years. But what it means is that Homo erectus and human beings like us lived at the same time. This is so troubling to scientists who believe in evolution that they tried several tactics to avoid the problem. First, they argued that human fossils were not in the same geological layer as the Homo erectus remains, but photographs contradicted this claim. Then they argued that the human remains must have washed into the area from higher ground, but the good condition of the human remains and the related bones ruled this out. In other words, Homo erectus offers no support for human evolution and another attempt to contradict God's Word about our special creation falls into failure. To get our daily creation devotionals,

4:14 发言人 1 What do we need to be accepted by God?

4:16 发言人 4 Billy Graham answers that question. You have to have righteousness before you can come into the kingdom of God. Where do you get it?

4:23 发言人 3 You don't have it.

4:25 发言人 1 I've never been righteous all my life.

4:27 发言人 4 I've never been sinless. I'm a sinner. And the Bible says that sinners are lost and doomed

4:33 发言人 2 and are going to face the judgment in hell.

4:36 发言人 4 Where do we get this righteousness? Christ purchased it for us at the cross. And when you come to the cross,

4:44 发言人 1 he clothes you in his righteousness so that when you come before God,

4:48 发言人 4 he doesn't see you. He sees the righteousness of Christ

4:53 发言人 1 instead of you and he accepts you and receives you because of that you can be accepted by god

5:01 发言人 2 when you come to him through faith in christ we're the billy graham evangelistic association for a free booklet about what it means to have faith in jesus christ

10:26 发言人 6 A good Wednesday morning my duckies. That was Jeremy Riddle with us here on Lighthouse FM and on our bulletin board today we're heading out to the town of Grand Falls, Windsor. Wildfire preparedness starts before smoke is even in the air and residents in Grand Falls are invited to join them for a community wildfire resiliency workshop. It's provided by Transitional Solutions Incorporated in partnership with the town of Grand Falls, Windsor and is taking place this coming Wednesday, August the 19th, 7 to 9 p.m. and will be happening there on Scouts Avenue at the Exploits Nordic Ski Chalet. Now this workshop's going to focus on understanding wildfire risk in the community and some of the practical steps that residents can take to better protect homes, properties, and community before a wildfire occurs. So residents, community leaders, and local partners are encouraged to attend and you can learn more about wildfire preparedness preparedness and find out how everyone can play a role in building a more wildfire resilient community. Being prepared starts with understanding the risk and they hope you'll join them. Again, that's coming up a week from today, Wednesday, August the 19th at 7 p.m. over the Exploits Nordic Ski Chalet. We're happy to keep the Christian community connected here at Lighthouse. We offer a free community bulletin board. If there's something you need to get on the air, kindly send all your details to VOAR at VOAR.org. Have a lovely Wednesday morning.

21:18 发言人 6 That's Brandon Lake with us on Lighthouse this morning in this song, Hard Fought Hallelujah. You know, sometimes the most powerful hallelujah isn't the one we sing when everything is going right. It's the one we sing when you've been through a storm, you're tired, you don't even understand what God's doing, but you choose to praise Him anyway. And that's the heart of that song. If you can identify, I hope you get a blessing from that this morning. You're listening to Lighthouse FM, sharing hope that changes everything.

21:48 发言人 4 Did you know one in three adults is at risk for kidney disease,

21:52 发言人 2 and kidney failure is more than three times higher in African Americans?

21:56 发言人 1 If you have high blood pressure or diabetes, you could be the one.

22:02 发言人 1 Now you know.

25:33 She was my first love, as sweet as she was beautiful. I decided the time had come to ask her hand in marriage, so I stopped by the jewelry store to get her an engagement ring. The salesman said a good rule of thumb is that the ring should cost about a fifth of my annual income. So I bought a beautiful two-carat diamond ring. You know, looking back, getting advice on a major purchase from a salesman probably wasn't such a good idea. I knew the Bible said that you should try to avoid debt, but I didn't have a lot of money sitting in the bank, and they told me they'd give me a discount if I set up a stored credit account and charged the ring. If I had to do it over, I would have saved up and paid cash for a ring I could afford. The good news is I just got this month's social security check in the mail, and I'm about to make my last payment on that ring. Diamonds are forever when you buy on credit. 30:24 发言人 6 Well, good morning. We're looking at chances of showers out there this morning. 15 degrees currently. Highs going to get up around 23 into the afternoon. And we'll see the humid exit up around 28 a little later on today. It's going to be a warm one, same into Thursday as well. So be prepared for that. We're just down around the 730 mark now. And coming up here on Lighthouse, I invite you to stay with us for lawyer Barry Bussey. Barry brings us intersection moments where he unpacks real-world questions of law and life. So stay with us on Lighthouse FM.

31:10 发言人 4 It was the commonly held view among the elites that religion would fade away as society became more educated and therefore more secular. Secularism, they said, gradually displaces religiosity in much the same way that adulthood displaces childhood. However, that thesis failed to materialize. Sociologists like Peter Berger now recognize the secularization theory has failed. Many vibrant religious communities have successfully resisted secular influence. However, as Berger writes, the secular thesis is still popular among a small, influential subculture of elites. I quote, This subculture is the principal carrier of progressive, enlightened beliefs and values, says Berger. While its members are relatively thin on the ground, they are very influential, as they control the institutions that provide the official definitions of reality, notably the educational system, the media of mass communication, and the higher reaches of the legal system, end quote. Is it any wonder that religion's harshest critics come from that subculture of elites in education, media, and the law?

36:53 发言人 5 This is Bebo Norman, and I'm truly thankful for Christian Radio.

36:56 发言人 2 I think that one of our roles as believers is to help build community right where we live. And I think Christian Radio is one of our greatest tools to do just that. So that's why I'm thankful to be a part of this radio station.

37:17 发言人 6 Sometimes, other people try to convince us that we have no value. Sometimes, we ourselves believe that we're not worth much. But God wants us to remember what He thinks about us, and He says it loudly in Isaiah 49, 15. Can a woman forget her nursing child? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you. Behold, I have inscribed you in the palms of my hands. Yes, the nails of the cross inscribed your name in Jesus' hands forever. You are His child, the love of His heart, the apple of His eye. So next time someone tells you you're not worth it, remind yourself, that's not.

44:11 Good morning, Lighthouse family, and just taking a look at our bulletin board today from the city of St. John's. They're doing some infrastructure and rehabilitation work out on our roadways. Some of the main roads affected include Black Marsh Road, Freshwater Road, Hamilton Avenue, Kingsbridge Road, Newfoundland Drive, University Avenue, Anspad Street, the back line, Babels Road, Campbell Avenue, Canada Drive, Drive, Captain Whalen Drive, Columbus Drive, Cornwall Avenue, Empire Avenue, Forbes Road, Cam Mount Road, Mundy Pond Road, Old Babels Road, and Old Petty Harbor Road, Road Deluxe, Rope Walk Lane, and Waterford Bridge Road, and Winter Avenue. That's just to name a few. So if you have to hit one or more of those, you definitely want to allow an extra bit of time for the drive out there this morning. There will be some slowdowns and lane closures and whatnot, so please govern yourself accordingly, okay? Have a safe morning drive out there. We'll get back to the music in just a little bit. Stay with us for news headlines coming next.

45:10 发言人 5 It's a disease that strikes adults in their prime, and Canada has one of the highest rates in the world. Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable, often debilitating disease of the central nervous system. It's estimated that 100,000 Canadians live with the disease, which attacks the protective covering of the brain and spinal cord, leaving many sufferers with symptoms, including fatigue, vision and sensory impairments, and loss of mobility. Dr. Catherine Giles, a leading Canadian neurologist, explains how earlier treatment can positively impact the course of MS.

45:40 发言人 6 The longer the disease progresses, the more likely that irreversible damage will occur.

45:45 发言人 5 Currently, we have no treatment to help people regain what they have already lost.

45:49 发言人 6 Research indicates, however, that treating MS early and aggressively reduces disease activity, slows disease progression, and impacts the development of disability.

45:57 发言人 5 Today, people living with MS have more treatment options, including newer DMTs, which offer higher efficacy and easier dosing. For more information, speak with your doctor to determine which treatment is right for you.

46:13 发言人 3 From home and around the world, this is Lighthouse VOAR FM News.

46:20 发言人 6 In the news, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has charged a 17-year-old boy after an investigation into the use of artificial intelligence to create sexually explicit images. Police say they received several complaints in January from teenage girls. They reported that their images had been digitally altered in sexually explicit ways and posted on social media. The RNC traced the images to a 17-year-old boy in the ghouls. On July 29th, the teenager was charged with 19 counts each of making, possessing, and distributing child sexual abuse and exploitation material. He also faces one count of accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material. Police say using AI to alter photos and create sexual content without consent and then sharing those images is a crime. The RNC is asking parents to speak with young people about responsible technology use, consent, and the consequences of online behavior. In total, the teenager faces 58 counts related to making, possessing, and distributing child sexual abuse and exploitation material, along with the additional accessing charge. charge. NL Health Services says the province continues to face recruitment and retention challenges across the health care system and emergency departments are no exception. The

47:48 health authority was responding to a recent national survey. It found that 10 percent of emergency room doctors across Canada are leaving the profession because of burnout. NL Health Health Services says its current data shows a vacancy rate of about 13.9% across the province's Category A emergency departments. There are emergency rooms that operate 24 hours a day and have at least one physician dedicated to emergency services. The health authority says those figures represent vacant permanent positions, but they do not directly translate into service reductions or emergency room closures. Many shifts are covered by locum doctors or other temporary staffing arrangements. NL Health Services says recruitment challenges exist in some areas, but many emergency departments across the province continue to have strong physician coverage. The health authority says physician wellness is an important part of providing high-quality care. It has a provincial wellness officer, along with physician wellness ambassadors across the province, to support doctors. A 35-year-old man from Happy Valley Goose Bay was charged with impaired after the vehicle he was driving left the Trans-Labrador Highway Saturday night. RCMP attended the crash site shortly after 10 p.m., and while the driver did not appear to be injured, police say he did show signs of impairment.

49:16 He was arrested and taken to the detachment, where breath samples were collected that were more than two and a half times the legal limit. it. His license was suspended and his vehicle was seized and impounded. He's scheduled to appear in court in November on impaired driving charges. An avid hiker is reminding people to be prepared whenever they hit the trails, no matter what time of day it is. Jack Hickey, a volunteer with Rover Search and Rescue, says hikers should always carry a flashlight, a knife, a phone, and a change of close. Hickey says even a short hike can turn into a serious situation. He uses Torbay Point as an example. The trail takes about 15 minutes to walk in and another 15 minutes to walk out. But Hickey says he always goes prepared because anything can happen. Hickey says if he rolls an ankle or goes over an embankment, he could be stuck for some time. And if there's no cell service, service, calling for help may not be an option. Hickey also stresses the importance of carrying a flashlight. After a recent search on the spout trail outside Bay Bulls, he had every member of his team turn off their flashlights. Hickey says the darkness was frightening. He says he could only imagine what it would be like for someone stranded with just a cell phone. The phone's battery could also be running down as they use it to try to call for help. For News Headlines, I'm Sheri Griffin.
