Through the 1960s and early 1970s, the station carried a beautiful music format before transitioning to Top 40 in 1973 under the WHNN callsign and the branding "Super Win." The format evolved through album-oriented rock from 1976 until 1981, when ownership pivoted to adult contemporary despite strong ratings, citing advertising market conditions.
