Operating at 90.5 FM, this listener and school district supported community radio station serves the Rochester, New York area under the ownership and operation of Monroe BOCES #1. The station traces its roots to 1975, when it launched as WRHR — standing for Rush Henrietta Radio — as a low-power, 10-watt student-run club operated through the Rush-Henrietta Central School District, initially programming a Top-40 format before shifting toward alternative music. Monroe BOCES #1 acquired the operation in 1985, and on March 2, 1987, the call sign officially changed to WBER, an acronym for BOCES Educational Radio. The station was upgraded to 2,500 watts and has since functioned as both a community broadcaster and a training ground for students and community members interested in radio production. Programming originates in part from partner school districts including Fairport, Webster, and Brighton.
