A top 40 contemporary hit radio station licensed to serve the Montgomery area, owned by Cumulus Media. The station began broadcasting September 9, 1962. Historically, operations included partnerships with an AM station on 1440 MHz, with shared morning programming. The FM frequency transitioned from automated country music formatting before becoming a rock outlet in the early 1970s, eventually establishing its current top 40 format. During the 1970s, programming included light classic rock selections during FM hours. The station maintained a comprehensive news operation known for pioneering use of geographically distributed severe weather teams providing live reporting from locations along predicted weather and tornado paths. The news operation provided continuous coverage of breaking events across the broadcast area. Current studios occupy the third floor of The Colonial Financial Center in downtown Montgomery, with transmitter facilities on the city's northeast side. Broadcast coverage extends from Birmingham to areas south along Interstate 65.
