WIFM - WIFM-FM

An adult contemporary format FM station licensed to the Piedmont region of North Carolina, owned by Yadkin Valley Broadcasting Corporation. Established in 1949 as an FM-only station with pre-recorded music programming when few listeners owned FM receivers. Expanded to include paired AM service in 1953. The station became known for local news coverage beginning in the 1960s, winning recognition for regional and national reporting. Utilized block programming format with multiple music genres including pop, country, and gospel. Historical broadcasts included morning entertainment shows and featured live music and Sunday religious programming. Transitioned to current adult contemporary format in the 1990s following ownership changes.
