Owned by Real Talk Studios, LLC, the station broadcasts a talk radio format with both local live programming and nationally syndicated content. WSIC signed on May 3, 1947, simultaneously with its former FM sister station, making the pair among the first co-owned AM and FM stations to launch simultaneously in the United States. Originally owned by the Statesville Broadcasting Company, the station operated a full-service middle-of-the-road format through much of the 1950s to 1980s, featuring music, news, sports, and community information. Notable alumni include broadcaster Ty Boyd and sports director Harold Johnson, a four-time local Emmy Award winner. The current programming schedule includes weekday shows such as a local morning program, The HomeAd Show, and The Todd Starnes Show in the midday block.
